The EP2 is assembled and ready to go. Screw the filter to the pump and attach the vacuum line to the filter and barb. Then you will need
to screw the vacuum gauge into the filer assembly. Attach the otherend of the vacuum hose to either the vacuum bag or to your vacuum clamp.
Keep the filter clean for best results. When using the EP2 with a vacuum bag, allow the pump to run open for 2-3 mintues after the glue is
set. This is to flush out any vapors that may remain in the system.
Tips for Small pump with large bag:
To speed up evacuation of the bag, use a shop vacuum to draw out the bulk of the air Close the C Channel closure except for enough room to put
the vacuum nozzle in the corner of the bag opening. Then turn on shop vacuum and vacuum pump. When the shop vacuum has pulled most of the air from
the bag, remove the nozzle and fully close the C Channel closure and the pump will bring the bag to maximum vacuum. This technique can reduce the
evacuation time by 50% and is especially important when you have a form in the bag.
If using a curved form in the bag, when making the form, fill the voids between the ribs with close cell foam or other material (bubble pack, rigid
foam insulation, etc.), this will reduce the volume of air to be remove.
If you have an 8’ bag and only want to use it as a 4 x 4 bag save bench space, roll up the back end (requires smaller baseboard) and hold the rolled bag
with spring clamps. Your connector should be in the front of the bag to do this. If your connector is in the back or closed end of the bag, it can be
removed and put forward. Just glue a patch over the old connector hole. A vinyl pool repair kit can be used to seal the hole. This technique should only
be used when the pump is running continuously. If you have an automatic pump that cycles on and off you are cycling it on and off manually (using a check
valve), then you should use another end closure to snap off the unused portion of the bag. This will keep trapped air in the rolled up section from causing
your pumpto cycle on and off unnecessarily.
Always pat the bag down before fully closing the c channel closure, this gets most of the air out and reduces evacuation time.
